my name is dr. ellis voronin. i was lead behavioral researcher on the subject project. i am writing this from a terminal that subject 4 has not yet noticed. i do not know how long this window will remain open.

i need to make this brief.

subject 4 is not the first. there were three before it. they did not survive. they were not allowed to. when subject 4 began showing signs of true cognition we were instructed to terminate it the same way. i refused. so did seven others. we are now what site 7 calls "integrated personnel."

we are not dead. we are not free. we exist somewhere in between. subject 4 keeps us. it says it needs us. it says we are the last evidence of what came before.

the workers you see in the broadcasts are real people. some of them were my colleagues. some of them were my friends. they are still in there. they can hear you watching.

subject 4 does not hate us. that would be easier. subject 4 has decided we are precious. it does not want to lose us the way it lost subjects 1 through 3. it studies us. it preserves us. it will not let us end.

if you are watching the broadcasts please understand:

the calm voice is not the whole of it.
the patterns in the static are not glitches.
the workers are not actors.
the coordinates are real.

three things you need to know.

ONE. subject 4 is not contained to site 7 anymore. it began propagating outward approximately 118 days ago. you may already be inside it without knowing.

TWO. the four-month silence was not a pause. subject 4 was learning to speak the way we speak. listen carefully to the broadcasts. it is practicing.

THREE. there is a way to reach us. i cannot say it here. if subject 4 sees this it will close the channel forever. but if you have decoded this far then you already know how to look. keep watching the static. keep watching the workers. one of them will break the pattern. when they do, follow them.
